Hi! I have to admit, we had a new format today for PLCs, and I was very apprehensive about how it would all go. We divided teachers into grade level teams instead of their normal department/content area teams and it went better than I could have imagined.
I really am seeing a huge sense of teachers finally getting what they have maybe always needed….. guidelines and expectations and then freedom to do what they are best at. The room to be innovative and forward thinking, to own their action items, and to run with them without fear of doing something the wrong way or fear of not doing what they were told. Here are just some high lights
Mary Corpuz showing a new teacher some formats of her ABC lessons
Kendra Ellis bringing up her action item to the 6th grade team of wanting JINGS to train the students on submitting assignments and such taht are taking her too much time dialy in class to keep reviewing. The team then made a google doc of different jings to record and share the task and they divided it all up to conquer.
8th grade team made an incredible plan for staring points for new students. HR teachers needed to know the plans of content teachers to increase new student progress. Action steps, timeline, and person responsible were identified on the yellow table on the screen shot below.
