Teachers have created their CIA 2, and will be analyzing the rigor at the Nov. 21 PLC. Interims will be given the week of Nov. 28-Dec. 2.
November PD opener: It was so great to see the K-8 students tell their teachers how much they appreciated them. I'm looking forward to seeing what the high school students say!
There is a monthly K12 Academic Leaders Professional Development meeting that includes Vickie, Angie, Desi, Meghan and Deb. A large portion of the discussion I was in last week centered on how teachers can attract students to small group sessions, especially since in most cases, these are the students who struggle. Every school has this issue, and we all know how critical small group instruction is in increasing student achievement. I'd love to hear from you about the successful teachers who get kids to show up for small groups and who are moving their students' academic levels. This one thing has the potential to make the largest difference in our proficiency as well as growth measures.
We're looking into the cost of a Playposit license. I emailed you the pricing sheet that I got today, and have contacted an administrator from VAVA to get her opinion. This would be a great option for flipped classes, teacher PD, and increasing accountability for students.
Observation and Feedback
I'm meeting with the Edivate rep on Thursday to discuss the changes in the rubric and the observation templates that we have found. For now, keep using whatever format you've been using and make sure to always include a score and the element from the rubric. Thanks for your patience!
There are some great sessions planned for the December 1-2 Face-to-face PD. Please keep in contact with Becky and Deb as we move closer to the date! We're going to need each of you and your expertise! Plus, it'll be a lot of fun!
