Thank you to those admin members who helped facilitate outings last week and who helped coordinate payment! The kids had so much fun on the ice and it was great to make some connections with students. It’s still my favorite to let parents really vent and then surprise them when I let them know who I am. Great to get the unfiltered feedback and get an idea, from their perspective, of things I need to pay more attention to.
Finish up DDI meetings. I have SO many GEMS of awesomeness I want to share with the teachers to learn from and the admin team to see what great things are happening in our classrooms.
Finalizing plans for mid-year formal evaluation process.
Helping out where I can with all things STEM application.
Upcoming Dates to Know
End of semester is coming up so we are focused on preparing a smooth grading process and procedure. In the academic plan we have the semester report cards being mailed out. Just wanted to confirm that is still the plan. Also just want to double check with Vickie that Mason has the information he needs to be the POC for the Science Fair and that plans for a student orientation are in the works. Probably be best if it’s recorded at this point in the game.
Jan 13th: End of 2nd Term & MLKJ Assembly
Jan 16th: No School
Jan 17th: Teacher Inservice Day, Students No School
Jan 20th: Outing
I have two teachers on “coaching status”. Jessica Brown is attending their classes all week and providing data as to their OTR’s and class structure as a support to help them improve in the needed areas.
We will be going in and checking TV to insure all teachers have started at least 1 FAST running note and follow up with those who haven’t.
K5 passing rate for Math and ELA currently 73.5% We set a goal to move that to 80% Many had forgotten to adjust expected progress for students determined by start date, that should raise it up some and then additional action steps are focusing on our orange students. I will be spotlighting those 80 and above this week.
MS ELA and Math is at 64.6%. ELA is rough. New teacher, Goodman, has gotten hers up 12% but still at under 50% which is not acceptable. She is working daily with Jessica Brown and Rebecca Leavitt, her 8th grade teammate. Colburn’s dropped from an 80% to 19%. All will be actively involved in seeing what has gone wrong and work quickly to fix it as to not create unneeded panic for students today looking at their grades.
MS History and Electives is dismal around 40%. I have emailed them today and asked them to discuss root causes and some possible solutions during PLC today and to IM when the conversation starts so I can be a part of the solution.
